Beginner
Châtel is an ideal resort for beginners with various ski areas to choose from and fast access to the pistes. ‘Super Châtel’ is located just above the town and offers a huge selection of easy green and blue runs from a mix of chair lifts and easy drags. The ‘Pre La Joux’ area also offers lots of learner slopes including the ‘Bellete’ green run – a 3km path that zig-zags through the forest, providing a picturesque run of decent length for beginners.

Intermediate
At the heart of the Portes du Soleil, Châtel offers intermediates access to over 600km of pistes across France and Switzerland. From picturesque tree-lined runs to wide-open cruising slopes, the variety is exceptional and it’s possible to ski a different route every day of your holiday. For a true Portes du Soleil experience, we highly recommend the famous ski circuit, a memorable day exploring seven resorts and two countries on a network of scenic blue and red runs.

Advanced
Châtel is a paradise for advanced skiers, offering everything from steep couloirs and challenging mogul runs to powder-filled bowls, snowparks and exciting off-piste terrain. As part of the vast Portes du Soleil, the opportunities for exploration are endless.
For those looking to progress their skiing or discover the mountain’s hidden gems, we can arrange private guides and expert instructors.

Snowboarding
Châtel and the Portes du Soleil offer some of the best snowboarding terrain in the Alps. From dedicated snowparks and boardercross courses to natural freestyle features and extensive off-piste terrain, there is something for every style of rider. Whether you enjoy cruising wide-open pistes, hunting for fresh powder or tackling technical backcountry descents, the opportunities are virtually endless.
